Congratulations! You’ve finally booked your first role on your favorite television show! You show up on time and you receive a packet of paperwork. You fill out your tax information with ease and then you come across a document that you aren’t quite sure of. You quickly glance over it – grab your pen and STOP! Don’t sign on the dotted line JUST yet, especially if you’re unsure of what you’re signing your name to.
What exactly is a non- disclosure agreement?
According to rocketlawyer.com, a “non-disclosure agreement is a legally enforceable contract that creates a confidential relationship between some person who holds some kind of trade secret and whom the secret will be disclosed.” Rocketlawyer.com
For instance, when you’re on set you should never share with ANYONE anything in regards to filming. That means no plot twists, storylines, etc. The casting company that has hired you, is trusting that once you’ve signed your name on the dotted line, you won’t do such. Doing so, can get you blacklisted or better yet blocked from working on any film or television set.
