Sports, Music and High Energy for Decatur WatchFest 2026 Opening Night



Walking around the new and improved Decatur Square was nothing short of amazing. With over 5,000 people in attendance, you were bound to bump into someone. Well, not just someone, somebody you knew. Throughout the evening, plenty of reunions filled with lots of laughs, hugs, and love as everyone enjoyed food, beverages, and fun. Oh! And, let's not forget the opening night concert featuring Atlanta royalty and one half of Outcast’s Big Boi!


In an interview, Big Boi shares: "As an Atlantan and huge soccer fan, performing for Decatur WatchFest '26 to kick off our World Cup festivities is a great honor, "I've seen the energy the World Cup creates, and I'm excited to get the party started for music and soccer fans in my backyard."



Some featured songs were, Bombs over Baghdad, Ms. Jackson, All Night, and many more.


Jonathan Holliman described the energy in Decatur last night as amazing. “I watched the transformation of the Decatur Square. I work two jobs in Decatur." He shared. "I am a teacher at Glenwood Elementary and I work for City Parks and Recreation. I’ve walked past here for the past ten years, and they have transformed this place! My wife and I took our wedding pictures at the gazebo - which by the way was torn down. So, I am Decatur!” He says. 


Decatur resident Andrea and John Morgan echoed Johnathan’s sentiment’s


“So far the vibe in Decatur has been fun!” Andrea Morgan shared.
